Abstract

This study explores the integration of amphibious architecture into social entertainment spaces in response to rising concerns about climate-induced flooding in coastal and riverine urban environments. It emphasizes the importance of resilience, adaptability, and user engagement in design. The research investigates the principles and technologies behind amphibious systems, reviews relevant case studies, and proposes a retail and entertainment complex that demonstrates the functionally aesthetic potential of amphibious structures in flood-prone areas like Ikoyi, Lagos. The study is grounded in Resilience Theory, Environmental Adaptation Theory, and Urban Place-making Theory, offering a multidisciplinary approach to innovative architecture. By merging technical design with cultural vibrancy, this project aims to contribute to sustainable urban development in Nigeria and beyond.
