Abstract
This study delves into the factors influencing the acceptance and effectiveness of family
planning practices among married couples in idanre local government area, ondo .
Employing a descriptive research design, data were gathered from 100 randomly selected
respondents through administered questionnaires and analyzed using frequency and
simple tables. The findings shed light on various dimensions: Regarding socioeconomic
factors, such as education, income, and employment status, the majority of respondents
acknowledged the impact of income on access to family planning services and the
challenges posed by financial constraints. Additionally, employment status was seen as
influencing decision-making around family planning, with many respondents facing
difficulties balancing employment responsibilities with family planning needs. Cultural
norms and religious beliefs were found to play a significant role in shaping attitudes
towards family planning. While religious teachings and guidance on family planning
were prevalent within communities, respondents reported feeling conflicted between
religious beliefs and the desire to use family planning methods. Barriers to accessing
family planning services were also identified, including financial constraints and cultural
or religious barriers. Despite sufficient information availability, respondents encountered
difficulties due to these barriers. In terms of recommendations, there was a consensus
among respondents that education campaigns and improved access to contraceptives
would enhance family planning utilization. Overall, this study provides valuable insights
into the multifaceted dynamics influencing family planning practices, emphasizing the
importance of addressing socioeconomic, cultural, and religious factors to promote
effective utilization of family planning services and improve reproductive health outcomes
among Married Couples in the study area.
