Abstract

The internet stands for International Network and it is one of the least inventions in Information Technology (IT). Since its invention, internet has been the most suitable and reliable means of information dissemination owing to its wide geographical coverage. The vast amount of data available on the Internet has led to the development of recommendation systems. This project proposes the use of soft computing techniques to develop an adaptive book recommendation agent. It addresses the limitations of current algorithms used to implement recommendation systems, evaluation of experimental results. This project therefore aims at establishing the most suitable means the internet can be used to solve the problem associated with diverse forms of advertising and ordering of finished product(s) in the manufacturers’ stock houses. It provides the user with a catalog of different books available for purchase in the store. In order to facilitate online purchase a shopping cart application is provided to the user. This can be accomplished by designing a web site for advertising and ordering so that customers all over the world will through the internet know the available product(s) with their various prices, sizes and models in the manufacturer’s stock houses and then place an order for any product(s) of their choice. The above application would be implemented using Object-Oriented analysis (OOA). Hence some database file would be created using Microsoft SQL Server as the database and ASP.Net using C# programming language.
