IMPACT OF GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING ON REDUCTION OF SOCIAL VICES AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN ATIBA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF OYO STATE

The study investigated the Impact of Guidance and counseling on it reduction of social Vices in Atiba local government Area, Oyo state. Five (5) school were selected for the study. From the study area using random sampling techniques, the sample comprise one hundred (100) participant. The instrument used were structured Questionnaire items on the Impact of Guidance and counselling on it Reduction of social vices. The result obtained from the analysis of the outcome of the responses using simple percentage method revealed that the impact of Guidance and counseling has a positive impact on it reduction of social vices. It further revealed that the Impact of home background has great effect on the student academic performance in school. Also home (s) has great Impact and influence as regard social vices as Lys reflect. Furthermore, the influence of peer group is a major cause of social vices in Nigerian student. The study recommended that the home is the agent of socialization for the growing of the child. Thus, parent should recognized and accept this as their primary function(s). Power in the school system should be shared between the principal(s), parent and even students. Also modern equipment and adequate instructional materials should be provided to enhance teaching, in order to achieve efficiency and to make student to be more interested and appreciative of what education is about in the school curriculum.
