EVALUATING THE IMPACT OF WEATHER PARAMETERS ON SOLAR POWER GENERATION/ OUTPUT: A CASE STUDY OF UDU L.G.A, DELTA STATE, NIGERIA
Abstract
Solar power generation is a form of renewable energy generated by the conversion of energy (sunlight) and artificial light into electricity. The project “Evaluating the Impact of Weather Parameters on Solar Power Generation/Output” using the 2022 solar energy output data provided by the Udu local government area of Delta state, Nigeria. From the data gathered, the project is aimed at analyzing the solar energy generated within the first six month (January through to June) for the year 2022. Also, it is aimed at estimating the percentage loss of energy due to weather parameters using the Python scheme and the Gaussian elimination method. It is shown from the results obtain that an increase in solar irradiance brings about the increase solar output, this is expected since higher sunlight (i.e. the intensity of the sunlight) directly correlates with more energy generation. It is also observed from the study that If the temperature coefficient is small or negative, it means extreme temperatures don’t significantly increase output, and may slightly decrease due to efficiency loss at high temperatures and a negative coefficient would indicate that cloudier days result in reduction in solar output/generation, as clouds block sunlight.
