DEVELOPMENT OF AN AUTOMATED REAL ESTATE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Abstract
The Nigerian real estate sector continues to face persistent challenges such as inefficient property management, fragmented data systems, and limited tools for investment decision-making. These problems stem primarily from the continued reliance on manual processes, which impede transparency, speed, and informed investor choices. In response to these issues, this study introduces the development of an Automated Real Estate Property Management System designed to modernize the handling of property listings, approvals, and investments. The primary objectives of the project were to design, implement, and evaluate a web-based platform that facilitates property management and investment analysis. The system was designed using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) and developed following agile methodology. It features role-based dashboards
for Administrators, Agents, and Investors, with functionalities such as property listing and approval, client inquiry tracking, property comparison, and basic investment metrics like ROI and risk scores. Secure user authentication and role-based access control were also integrated to ensure system integrity.
The results demonstrated successful implementation of all major functionalities, showing improvement in workflow efficiency, reduced manual errors, and enhanced data accessibility. Users were able to manage and approve property listings seamlessly, while investors could search, compare, and evaluate potential investments using built-in tools. In conclusion, the project
successfully delivered a functional, scalable, and secure property management system that addresses key inefficiencies in the Nigerian real estate market. It highlights the transformative potential of technology in enhancing transparency, decision-making, and overall service delivery within the sector. Future improvements could explore deeper integration of financial analytics, mobile-first responsiveness, and broader adoption across Nigeria’s real estate ecosystem.
