Abstract

This project focuses on the design and construction of a dual-run grain grinding machine powered by a 6.5 HP petrol engine and a 1.5 HP electric motor. The dual-power configuration addresses the limitations associated with using a single power source in rural and off-grid environments, ensuring operational flexibility and reliability. The machine features a robust mild steel grinding plate designed for durability and effective grain processing. An automatic power-switching mechanism was incorporated to allow seamless transition between the petrol engine and electric motor, reducing downtime and manual intervention. Performance tests conducted with various grain types demonstrated the machine’s high grinding efficiency, reduced energy consumption, and enhanced adaptability in diverse operating conditions. This innovative design offers a cost-effective, energy-efficient, and versatile solution for grain processing in both rural and urban areas.
