AN ANALYSIS OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP FINANCING AS A TOOL FOR UNEMPLOYMENT REDUCTION IN NIGERIA (2007–2022)
Abstract
This study examined the effect of entrepreneurship financing on unemployment in Nigeria from 2007–2022 using Central Bank of Nigeria data. The Augmented Dickey-Fuller test, Johansen Cointegration, and Error Correction Model were applied. Results revealed that bank credits to SMEs had a negative and insignificant relationship with unemployment rate, while lending interest rate and inflation rate had positive but insignificant effects. The study recommends improved government support, strengthened entrepreneurship institutions, and a national survey of entrepreneurs to guide policy and job creation.
