A SECURED FILE ON CLOUD USING ADVANCED ENCRYPTION STANDARD
Abstract
Cloud storage provides a convenient and scalable solution for file management but faces critical challenges in data security and privacy. This project focuses on designing and implementing a secure cloud file storage system using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). AES, a symmetric encryption algorithm, ensures data confidentiality by using the same key for encryption and decryption, protecting files from unauthorised access. The study identified weaknesses in existing cloud storage platforms, including insufficient encryption methods and complicated interfaces. To address these issues, a user-friendly platform was developed that allows users to securely upload, encrypt, store, and retrieve files with full control over encryption keys. The system architecture integrates essential features such as user authentication, encryption modules, cloud storage services, and key management. Comprehensive testing confirmed the system’s effectiveness, demonstrating secure encryption and decryption of various file types while maintaining high-speed operations. The platform also ensures accessibility for technical and non-technical users, making it suitable for personal and professional applications. This project successfully enhances cloud storage security through AES encryption. It highlights the balance between robust protection and usability, providing a practical solution for secure file storage. Future improvements, including mobile applications, multi-factor authentication, and advanced key management, are recommended to further enhance the system's functionality and security.
