Abstract

Abstract This work focuses on the investigation of voltage sags and surges in power distribution system. Voltage sags and surges are common issues in power distribution systems, leading to potential disruptions and damage to sensitive equipment. This study investigates the causes and impacts of voltage sags and surges, focusing on their mitigation through the use of Dynamic Voltage Restorers (DVRs). which is the most efficient and effective modern custom power device used in power distribution networks. Its appeal includes lower cost, smaller size, and its fast dynamic response to the disturbance It can provide the most commercial solution to mitigation of voltage sags and surges by injecting voltage as well as power into the system. This project presents modeling, analysis and simulation of a Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) using MATLAB. The efficiency of the DVR depends on the performance and the efficiency of the control technique involved in switching the inverters. In this model the dqo control method. The proposed control method is found very efficient for detecting and clearing any power quality disturbance in distribution systems. Results of simulation using Matlab/Simulink are demonstrated to prove the usefulness of this scheme.
