INFLUENCE OF SUPERSTORY TELEVISION PROGRAMME ON THE BEHAVIOURAL PATTERNS OF CRESCENT UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Abstract
This study investigated influence of the Superstory television programme on the behavioural patterns of students at Crescent University, Abeokuta. Using a research design and structured questionnaire distributed online, data were collected and distributed to the students. A purposive sampling technique was employed to select respondents from various departments and 100 valid responses were collected and analyzed.
Findings revealed that a significant number of students (90.2%) watch Superstory while less than 50 percent (49.5%) acknowledged that the programme had influenced their behaviour in areas such as relationships, emotional reactions and self-expression.
The study concluded that television programmes like Superstory when educational and socially relevant can significantly impact the behaviour and mindset of young viewers. The study recommends that media literacy should be taught in school to improve their knowledge on what to consume from the media.
