ROLES OF ADVERTISING IN CHANGING CUSTOMERS BEHAVIOR; A STUDY OF IPHONE AND SAMSUNG, MTN AND GLO.
Abstract
Advertising plays a crucial role in shaping consumer perceptions, influencing purchasing decisions, and reinforcing brand loyalty. In a competitive market where multiple brands vie for consumer attention, advertising serves as a strategic tool for differentiation, persuasion, and engagement. The effectiveness of an advertisement depends on various factors, including emotional appeal, brand positioning, and the medium through which it is delivered. Digital marketing has revolutionized how brands connect with their audiences, with social media and online platforms becoming dominant channels for advertising influence. However, traditional media such as television, radio, and billboards remain relevant, especially in reaching broader demographics. This study explores how advertising strategies impact consumer behavior, particularly in the smartphone and telecommunications industries. It examines the role of celebrity endorsements, promotional campaigns, and consumer psychology in shaping brand preferences. While advertising can create strong brand associations and influence initial purchase decisions, long-term customer retention is determined by factors such as product quality, service reliability, and price competitiveness. By analyzing these dynamics, this research highlights the need for a balanced, well-targeted advertising strategy that aligns with consumer expectations and fosters brand trust in an evolving digital landscape.
