Abstract

ABSTRACT This study focuses on Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Quality Assurance among Health Information Professionals. Quality assurance (QA) is a critical aspect of healthcare delivery, ensuring that patient care is safe, effective, and consistent. Health Information Management (HIM) professionals play a crucial role in maintaining the quality of healthcare data, which is essential for accurate and reliable decision-making. The knowledge, attitude, and practice of quality assurance among HIM professionals are vital for ensuring the integrity, privacy, and security of health information (AHIMA, 2020). The problem at hand is the lack of comprehensive research on the knowledge, attitude, and practice of quality assurance among HIM professionals. While HIM professionals are trained in data management, coding, and information governance, there is limited information on their understanding and implementation of quality assurance principles in their daily practices. Additionally, their attitudes towards quality assurance, including their beliefs, perceptions, and motivations, may influence their practice of quality assurance. The aim of this study the knowledge, attitude and practice of quality assurance among health information management professionals in Lagos State. A descriptive research design was adopted in conducting this study, questionnaire was used for data collection in this research. Finally, findings revealed that majority of the respondent, 54(100.0%) strongly agreed that ensuring completeness of data is a key component of quality assurance that the health information management professionals must know.
