UKRAINE RUSSIA WAR AND THE SUPERPOWERS INTERVENTION
Abstract
This study investigates the dynamics of the Ukraine-Russia war with a specific focus on the role and implications of super power interventions. Anchored on the conflict management theory and realism, the research provides an in-depth analysis of how global powers—particularly the United States, Russia, the European Union, and China—have shaped the course of the conflict through military, diplomatic, and economic strategies. Drawing from qualitative data, literature reviews, and international policy frameworks, the study examines the historical context of the war, evaluates the legitimacy and outcomes of foreign interventions, and explores the effects on Ukraine’s sovereignty, regional stability, and global norms. The research identifies a dual narrative: while interventions have helped defend Ukraine’s independence and deter further aggression, they have also prolonged the war, contributed to geopolitical polarization, and redefined the global understanding of sovereignty and proxy warfare. Ultimately, the study concludes that future international conflict management must strike a balance between defending democratic values and promoting lasting peace through inclusive diplomacy and multilateral cooperation. Recommendations are provided for policymakers, international institutions, and future scholars seeking to understand the evolving nature of great power politics in contemporary conflict zones.
