Abstract

This study compares the Islamic and medical systems of Ar-Radāa’ in Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State. It examines how both perspectives define and practice breastfeeding and milk-kinship, highlighting areas of agreement and difference. Using interviews and questionnaires, the study finds that while both systems promote child health, the Islamic system places additional emphasis on social and legal implications such as milk-kinship. The study recommends improved community awareness that integrates religious understanding with medical guidance.
