Abstract

This project presents the design and construction of an SMS-based vehicle tracking and ignition control system for anti-theft applications. The system integrates Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies with a microcontroller to enable real-time vehicle monitoring and remote control capabilities. The GPS module continuously acquires vehicle location data, which is transmitted to the owner’s mobile phone via the GSM module in response to predefined SMS commands or triggered security events. In the event of unauthorized access or movement, the system sends automatic alerts containing precise geographic coordinates. Furthermore, the system supports remote ignition disabling via SMS, allowing the vehicle owner to prevent further movement of the vehicle in the event of theft. The implementation prioritizes cost-effectiveness, low power consumption, and ease of integration with existing vehicle systems. Experimental results confirm the system’s reliability in location tracking, SMS communication, and remote ignition control, making it a viable solution for enhancing vehicle security.
