EFFECT OF A WEB-BASED TECHNOLOGY ON EFFECTIVE OFFICE MANAGEMENT IN AN ORGANIZATION (A STUDY OF CADBURY NIGERIA PLC, LAGOS)
Abstract
This study investigated the effect of web-based technology on effective office management in
Cadbury Nigeria PLC, Lagos. The research aimed to assess the impact of web-based tools on
communication, data management, employee productivity, and the challenges associated with
their implementation. A quantitative approach was used, with a structured questionnaire
administered to 97 employees in the IT and administrative departments. The findings revealed that
web-based technologies significantly enhance real-time communication, collaboration, and the
retrieval of office data. Additionally, the study highlighted the positive influence of web-based tools
on employee productivity and operational efficiency, with the automation of tasks reducing manual
errors and improving time management. However, challenges such as poor internet connectivity,
data security concerns, and resistance to change among employees were identified as barriers to
the effective adoption of these technologies. The hypothesis testing, conducted using ANOVA,
confirmed that the use of web-based technology positively impacts the key variables related to
office management, with statistically significant differences observed in communication, data
management, and productivity. The study also emphasized the importance of regular employee
training and adequate IT support to ensure the successful integration of web-based tools. Based
on the findings, the study recommended that organizations invest in reliable internet infrastructure,
prioritize cybersecurity, and involve employees in the adoption process of new technologies. This
research contributes to understanding the role of web-based technologies in modern office
management and offers insights for organizations aiming to enhance their digital transformation
strategies.
