ISOLATION , IDENTIFICATION AND ANTIBIOTICS SUCCECIBILITY PATTERN OF BACTERIA FROM WELL WATER IN ZURMI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF ZAMFARA STATE.
Abstract
ABSTRACTAccess to clean and safe water remains a pressing public health concrn, particularly in rural communities of developing countries where untreated well water is commonly used for domestric and drinking purposes. This study was conducted to islolate, identify and determine the Antibiotics susceptibility pattern of bacteria from Well water source in zurmi local government area of zamfara state Nigeria.A total of Twenty One well water sample were aseptically collected from different locations, across the area and transported under cold condition to the laboratory for Microbiological analysis.Sample were processed using both serial delution and direct culturing methods.Nutrient agar and MacConkey Agar were prepared for bacterial growth, While morphological and biochemical characteristics were recorded for initial screening.Gram staining and biochemical assays were identify the isolate. The Results revealed significant microbial contamination across all sample.Predominatly,Gram -negative rods were islolated including Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aureginosa, Klebsiella spp,and salmonella spp.The highest fecal coliform count's were 70, while the lowest were 15.these finding underscore the urgent need for public health intervention, regularly water quality monitoring, and community education regarding the treatment of drinking water.
