Abstract

The study was conducted at Ramat polytechnic teaching and research farm Maiduguri. Sixteen 16 fattening rams with average weight of 30-35kg were used for the feeding trials. The animal were confining for one week adaptation during this period they were treated against external and internal parasite infection, the rams was fed with experimental diet cottonseed cake and poultry litter were weight randomly divided into four (4) treatment group of four animals per replicate in a complete randomized design. The animal was weight such that the initial weight and final different after 12 weeks of feeding. All routine management was strictly adhering to the was fed 4% of their body weight experimental diets while 1% was concentrate so as to replace the different nutrient intake experimental diets. The results of initial weight gain (kg) is recorded T4 35kg the highest value and T1,T2 and T3 recorded the same value of 31kg. The highest value of the final weight gain (kg) is recorded by animal in T4 44kg while the lowest value recorded T2 36kg. Control the different might be due to the lack of poultry litter in the diet the highest value of total weight gain is recorded by animal on T4 9kg while the lowest value recorded in T2 5kg . The results of total feed intake (g) the highest value recorded in T4 318.72 and the lowest value recorded in T2 265.97. the results of cost of feed N/kg . The highest value of the total feed cost consumed in T4 . This could be due to highest feed cost consumed in T4 with the value of 1.621 and lowest value in T2 1.348. the highest value of the % cost saving T2 recorded the highest value and lowest value recorded in T3 value of T2 108.8% and T3 92.6% animal performance by reducing degration of fibre and protein by remain micro organism in spite of the different in feed intake between the controlled diet and poultry litter and cottonseed cake numerically recorded higher feed intake (318.72 and 4.024,265.976,271.91 for T1,T2,T3 respectively to the effect of the different processing method adopted for the co
