Abstract

The present study examines the in vitro antioxidant activity of aqueous extracts derived from the leaves of Moringa oleifera, a plant widely recognized for its diverse nutritional and medicinal benefits. The primary objective of this research is to assess the extract's ability to neutralize free radicals and mitigate oxidative stress, factors that contribute to the pathogenesis of numerous chronic diseases. The antioxidant capacity of the extract was quantitatively evaluated using established assays, including DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), ABTS (2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)), and FRAP (ferric reducing antioxidant power) assays. The findings reveal that the aqueous extract of Moringa oleifera leaves demonstrates significant antioxidant activity, comparable to standard antioxidant compounds. These results suggest the potential application of Moringa oleifera leaf extract as a natural antioxidant agent in the development of therapeutic interventions and dietary supplements. Further investigation is warranted to fully elucidate its mechanisms of action and optimize its use in clinical and industrial settings.
