A simple random sampling technique was used for the study in selecting 380 students from four schools: Our Lady of Fatima College(100 students),St. Angela Girls Secondary School Afowa (90 students), Ekhei Girls Secondary School (80 students),and Auchi Polytechnic secondary school, Auchi(110 students),totaling 380students.The study was aimed to explore factors influencing their performance and the implications for educational strategies in the region. The analysis indicates that parental occupation significantly impacts students' academic performance. Students whose parents have middle to high-income occupations perform better, with average SSCE scores of 68%and 759%respectively for fathers, and 66%and72%respectively for mothers. This suggests that higher parental occupations correlate with better academic outcomes.
