Abstract

This study examines how deposit money bank credit influences agricultural growth in Nigeria using data from 1990–2023. Agricultural GDP was used as the dependent variable, while bank credit to agriculture, interest rate, ACGSF, and inflation served as independent variables. Using ADF, cointegration, ECM, and Granger causality tests, the study found that bank credit positively affects agricultural growth, while interest rate, ACGSF, and inflation have negative impacts. The study concludes that bank financing significantly contributes to agricultural growth and recommends stronger lending policies and better implementation of agricultural credit programs.
