Abstract

Abstract: The study examined the influence of teaching staff competencies on the employability of graduates of Office Technology and Management (OTM) in Oyo State-Owned Polytechnic, Nigeria. The digital era demands that OTM graduates possess relevant skills to meet employers' expectations. However, concerns about the quality of graduates' skills persist. This study investigated the relationship between teaching staff competencies and OTM graduates' employability. A survey research design was adopted, and data were collected from 98 Lecturer, 42 Senior Lecturer, 18 Head of Department and Chief Lecture using questionnaires. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Head of Department and Chief Lecture competencies (pedagogical skills, technical skills, and industry experience) and OTM graduates' employability. The study recommends that polytechnics should prioritize staff development programs to enhance teaching staff competencies, ensuring OTM graduates are equipped with industry-relevant skills.
