Abstract

The traditional student registration and fee payment process at Adecom College of Business and Management Studies, has been fraught with inefficiencies, including long queues, data inaccuracies, and difficulty in tracking financial transactions. These challenges lead to delays, administrative burdens, and potential loss of important records. To address these issues, this study focuses on the design and implementation of a Student Registration and Online Payment Portal aimed at automating and streamlining these processes for improved efficiency and transparency. The study explores the limitations of the existing manual system and proposes a web-based solution that enables students to register for courses and make payments online securely. The system incorporates a centralized database for storing student records, an automated payment system integrated with secure online payment gateways, and an administrative dashboard for real-time monitoring and report generation. By leveraging modern web technologies such as PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript, the system ensures ease of access, security, and efficiency in managing student data and financial transactions.A systematic methodology was adopted in developing the portal. This involved data collection through surveys and interviews with students and administrative staff to identify key pain points in the existing system. The system design followed a structured software development lifecycle (SDLC), encompassing requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and deployment. The portal was tested using a sample of students and administrators to evaluate its usability, functionality, and performance. The results indicated a significant reduction in processing time, improved accuracy in record-keeping, and enhanced user satisfaction compared to the previous manual system. The findings of this study demonstrate that an online student registration and payment portal can effectively eliminate administrative bottlenecks, enhance financial transparency, and provide students with a seamless experience. The system ensures real-time transaction processing, instant confirmation of registration and payments, and efficient record management for administrators. The study contributes to the growing body of research on educational technology adoption in higher institutions, offering a practical framework for similar institutions seeking to digitize their administrative processes. In conclusion, the Student Registration and Online Payment Portal presents a viable solution to the challenges faced by Adecom College of Business and Management Studies. It is recommended that the institution fully adopt and integrate the system while providing regular maintenance and updates to ensure sustainability. Future research can explore additional functionalities, such as mobile app integration and AI-driven analytics, to further enhance the effectiveness of the system.
