Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examined the impact of prophecy on Christian homes: a case study of Qua Iboe Church, Abak. Prophecy is currently part of the fabric that builds the church as well as the homes that make up the church. This factor (prophecy) is also important for Qua Iboe Church, Abak. But it had been observed that there may be little or no prophecy in Qua Iboe Church, Abak. The lack of prophecy in Christian homes within the Qua Iboe Church, Abak, might have led to spiritual stagnation and a diminished sense of divine direction. In line with the above stated, this study examined; the nature of prophecy on the home in Qua Iboe Church, Aba, the attitudes of families to prophecy in Qua Iboe Church, Abak, the impact of prophecy on the home in Qua Iboe Church, Abak and methods towards improving prophecy in Qua Iboe Church, Abak. The research methodology employed in this study is descriptive survey methods. Findings from this research have shown that Prophecy plays a significant role in shaping the spiritual and practical lives of Christian families in Qua Iboe Church, Abak. It has been a powerful tool for guidance, correction, and encouragement, often providing clarity during times of uncertainty or crisis. Families in the church have testified to experiencing transformative changes as a result of receiving prophetic messages, which have helped them navigate issues such as financial struggles, family divisions, and career decisions. . While prophecy has had numerous positive impacts, the study also explored its negative effects on the homes in Qua Iboe Church, Abak. Findings revealed that in some cases, prophecy has led to family conflicts, mistrust, and emotional stress, particularly when prophetic messages were misinterpreted or lacked clarity. For instance, vague or ominous prophecies about betrayal or danger have caused divisions within families and created an atmosphere of suspicion and fear. Additionally, over-reliance on prophetic messages for everyday decisions has hindered some families from taking personal responsibility and seeking direct guidance through prayer and Scripture. The study recommended that; Qua Iboe Church should design and implement detailed training programs for prophetic ministers to enhance their skills and spiritual preparedness. These programs should include courses on the biblical foundations of prophecy, ethical standards, and effective communication.
