Abstract

ABSTRACT In recent years, the banking sector in Nigeria has witnessed a significant transformation driven by technological advancements and the need for improved security systems. One of the most critical innovations introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria is the Bank Verification Number (BVN), designed to uniquely identify customers across all banks and reduce fraudulent activities. This project presents the design and implementation of an Online BVN Cross Check System, using FCMB Bank PLC Aba as a case study. The system was developed to provide a reliable, efficient, and secure platform for verifying customer identities using their BVN details in real-time. The study identifies the limitations of manual verification methods, including delays, human errors, and vulnerability to fraud. The system was built using modern web technologies, ensuring accessibility, speed, and scalability. It integrates a secure database that stores customer information and allows authorized personnel to perform quick verification checks. The implementation demonstrates improved operational efficiency, reduced fraud risk, and enhanced customer trust. Ultimately, this project contributes to the advancement of secure digital banking in Nigeria by providing a practical solution to identity verification challenges.
