​USE OF MOBILE PHONES FOR DISSEMINATING AGRICULTURAL INFORMATION BY EXTENSION WORKERS IN FASKARI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF KASTINA STATE

ABSTRACT ​The study discusses the use of mobile phone for disseminating agricultural information by extension workers in Faskari local government of Katsina state. Definition of agriculture, agriculture information were provided. Some related literature of the study were reviewed accordingly and the research questions were obtained as the basis for the study through which some research questions were formulated among them are what types of agricultural information are disseminated by extension workers, what extent do extension workers disseminate agricultural information using mobile phone, what are the challenges face by extension workers in disseminating agricultural information. Descriptive survey research is adopted for this study and total population 55 sample were selected for this study. The research also found out that the authorities gives low priority to record keeping, recommendations were made. Some of the recommendation is that The extension workers should use mobile phone to disseminate agricultural information to rural farmer in Faskari Local Government Area of Kastina State, Extension workers should always use mobile phone to disseminated agricultural information for farming innovation to rural farmers in Faskari Local Government Area in Kastina State, Extension workers should also use mobile phone in disseminating agricultural information adequately to rural farmers for their farming activities. Extension workers should look for knowledge of utilizing mobile phone in the processes of disseminating agricultural information to rural farmers.
