ANDROID BASED FIRE DISASTER REPORTING SYSTEMCASE STUDY OF MUBI NORTH LGA
Abstract
This study examined the role Android Based Fire Disaster Reporting System. Disasters, whether natural or man-made, pose significant threats to human life, property, and the environment, and often exceed the coping capacities of affected communities. In light of persistent shortcomings in traditional disaster management systems—particularly delayed reporting, poor record-keeping, and inefficient coordination—this study presents the design and implementation of an Android-based Disaster Reporting System. With the widespread adoption of mobile technology, especially Android smartphones in countries like Nigeria and Indonesia, mobile platforms offer a practical solution for real-time disaster response. The proposed system enables users to report incidents instantly through various multimedia inputs such as text, images, audio, GPS coordinates, and real-time calls. It facilitates effective communication between the public, administrators, and emergency response teams while preserving data integrity and user anonymity at the operational level. The application is developed using Java, Android SDK, Firebase, and other open-source tools, incorporating object-oriented programming principles. The study also addresses the limitations of existing systems and incorporates features to enhance credibility, accessibility, and decision-making. System testing shows improved speed, accuracy, and user experience in emergency reporting, making it a promising tool for modern disaster management frameworks. The project concludes by emphasizing the critical role of ICT in disaster preparedness and recommends broader awareness, stakeholder training, and continued research in mobile-based emergency response systems.
