INFLUENCE OF TIMELY RELEASE OF RESULT ON STUDENTS PERFORMANCE AND STUDY HABITS IN OGUN STATE
Abstract
This study investigates the influence of timely release of academic results on students’ performance and study habits in Ogun State. The research explores how the promptness or delay in releasing results affects students’ motivation, preparedness, emotional stability, and overall academic outcomes. A descriptive survey design was adopted, using questionnaires administered to secondary school students and teachers across selected schools. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings revealed that timely release of results positively impacts students’ performance by helping them identify strengths and weaknesses early, adjust study habits, and set realistic academic goals. Conversely, delayed results were found to reduce motivation, increase anxiety, and disrupt study patterns. The study recommends that schools adopt efficient record management systems and enforce strict timelines for result processing to improve academic performance and promote healthier study habits among students.
