Abstract

ABSTRACT The contributions of local government areas in community development of Igbo Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State identify the roles of local government in community development, assess the challenges facing local government in community development, and suggest strategies for improving community development. A descriptive survey research design was adopted, and data was collected through questionnaires and interviews. The research reveals that local government areas have made significant contributions to community development in Igbo Etiti, including infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and agriculture. However, challenges such as inadequate funding, corruption, and lack of community participation hinder effective community development. This study recommends increased funding, transparency, and community engagement to enhance the effectiveness of local government areas in community development.
