Abstract

ABSTRACT This project focuses on the design and implementation of a comprehensive electrical wiring diagram for a modern duplex building, utilizing the surface wiring method. The surface wiring method, which involves the installation of conduits and cables on the surface of walls and ceilings, is chosen for its numerous advantages including ease of installation, accessibility for maintenance, flexibility for future modifications, and cost-effectiveness. The study begins with an introduction to electrical wiring systems and a detailed comparison between surface and concealed methods to establish the rationale for selecting surface wiring for this project. It delves into the regulatory framework provided by the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant standards to ensure safety and compliance. The core of the work involves the meticulous design of load distribution, circuit planning, and the creation of detailed electrical wiring diagrams for all key areas of the duplex, including living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and utility areas. The implementation phase outlines the step-by-step procedure for installation, covering material selection, conduit mounting, wiring, and connection of accessories like switches, sockets, and distribution boards. This project serves as a practical guide for students, technicians, and homeowners, demonstrating that a safe, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing electrical installation can be achieved through proper planning and adherence to the surface wiring method.
