GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF BROILER CHICKENS FED DIET SUPPLEMENTED WITH ORGANIC TRACE MINERAL BLENDS AT BOTH STARTER AND FINISHER PHASES
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study evaluated the effects of varying inclusion levels of organic trace minerals (OTMs) on the growth performance of broiler chickens at both the starter and finisher phases. A total of 120-day-old broiler chicks were randomly assigned to four dietary treatments with three replicates each in a Completely Randomized Design. The treatments were formulated as follows: T1 (control) contained no organic trace minerals; T2 contained 50% below the manufacturer’s recommended OTM level; T3 contained 100% (manufacturer’s recommended level) of OTMs; and T4 contained 50% above the manufacturer’s recommended level. Results at the starter phase showed that supplementation with organic trace minerals had no significant effect (P>0.05) on final weight, total weight gain, daily weight gain, or feed intake among treatments. However, birds fed diets in T₃ and T₄ had numerically higher weight gains and better FCR compared to other treatments, indicating improved feed utilization. Similarly, at the finisher phase, significant (P
