COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF ANTI-NUTRIENT CONTENT OF COW BLOOD AND BROILER CHICKEN BLOOD
Abstract
The anti-nutrient content of cow and boiler chicken blood were investigated using a standard method describe by the association of analytical chemist (A.O.A.C, 2000). The result shows that chicken blood contains Tanin (0.31mg/100g), phenol (0.2705mg/100g), Alkaloid (4.29mg/100g), Flavonoid (0.6625mg/100g), Saponin (0.481mg/100g), Phytate (0.213mg/100g), Oxalate (0.197mg/100g) and Cyanoganoglycoside (0.004 mg/100g). The research shows that cow blood contains Tanin (0.312mg/100g), phenol (0.278mg/100g), Alkaloid (8.225mg/100g), Flavonoid (0.674mg/100g), Saponin (0.485mg/100g), Phytate (0.217mg/100g), Oxalate (0.210mg/100g) and Cyanoganoglycoside (0.006 mg/100g). Therefore it can be concluded that cow blood contains more anti-nutrition than boiler chicken blood, this may be attributed to the fact that Nigeria cows depends on green vegetables as their source of food. Alkaloid has highest value in cow and it can be beneficial for the treatment of the disease that response to Alkaloid treatment.
