Abstract

7 ABSTRACT The design and implementation of an academic transcript management system for Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Yola Campus, aim to address the inefficiencies and challenges associated with the traditional manual process of managing academic transcripts. This study focuses on developing a computerized system utilizing PHP, JavaScript, and SQL to automate the creation, storage, retrieval, and processing of students' academic records, ensuring accuracy, security, and efficiency. The system features a user-friendly interface, streamlining interactions for both administrative staff and students, and incorporates robust security measures to protect sensitive data. The primary objectives include reducing the time and effort required to generate and verify transcripts, minimizing errors, and enhancing the overall integrity of the academic records management process. The methodology involved a thorough analysis of the existing manual system, identifying key issues such as delays, data inconsistency, and the risk of unauthorized access. Using PHP for backend development, JavaScript for dynamic user interfaces, and SQL for database management, the new system was developed to address these challenges effectively. The implementation of this system has demonstrated significant improvements in the management of academic transcripts, leading to increased efficiency in administrative processes, enhanced accuracy in record-keeping, and greater satisfaction among students and staff. This project showcases the potential of using modern programming languages and technologies to transform traditional administrative functions in educational institutions, paving the way for further innovations in academic management systems.
