EFFECT OF ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE ON EMPLOYEES PERFORMANCE (A CASE STUDY OF ABDU GUSAU POLYTECHNIC TALATA MAFARA ZAMFARA STATE)
Abstract
This study investigates the effect of organizational structure on employee performance at Abdu
Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara, Zamfara State. Using a descriptive research design, the study
collected data through questionnaires, interviews, and document reviews. A stratified random
sampling technique was employed to ensure representation from different departments and
hierarchical levels within the Polytechnic. The data were analyzed using both quantitative and
qualitative methods to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of organizational
structure on employee performance. The findings indicate that the organizational structure at
Abdu Gusau Polytechnic significantly influences employee performance. Specific structural
elements, such as clarity of roles, communication efficiency, and flexibility, were found to have a
direct impact on productivity and job satisfaction. However, challenges such as role ambiguity
and bureaucratic delays were identified as factors that could hinder performance. The study
concludes that optimizing the organizational structure can enhance employee performance by
improving role clarity, streamlining communication, and reducing bureaucratic inefficiencies.
Recommendations include restructuring roles and responsibilities, enhancing communication
channels, and adopting a more flexible organizational approach.
