Abstract

This project presents the design and implementation of a Biometric Voting System aimed at enhancing the credibility, security, and transparency of elections in Nigeria. This system uses fingerprint authentication to ensure that only registered voters can cast their votes and that no one votes more than once. A we platform is developed for voter registration and login, while a mobile application handles scanning of fingerprint for voter verification. Voter details like the Full name, NIN (National ID Number), Email and the fingerprint data are securely stored in a database. This project adopts a design and implementation methodology. Tools like HTML/CSS, PHP, MySQL, and simulated fingerprint scanning are used in building and testing the system. Black- box testing was used to evaluate performance, accuracy and reliability. This system recorded a high accuracy rate during testing and proved effective in reducing impersonation and duplicate voting. The Biometric Voting System provides practical solution to some of the common problems faced in traditional and even current election voting in Nigeria.
