Abstract

This study examined the impact of job satisfaction on employee performance within the telecommunications industry in Nigeria. The research objectives were threefold: to ascertain the impact of job satisfaction on employee productivity at MT Nigeria Pic., determine the impact of job satisfaction on employee engagement at MIN Nigeria Ple., and to investigate the impact of job satisfaction on employee commitment at MTN Nigeria Ple. A descriptive research design was employed, utilizing primary data sources. The study population comprised employees at the ljebu Ode branch of MTN Nigeria Plc., with a sample size of 50 employees determined using the Taro Yamane formula. Simple random sampling techniques were used, and chi-square analysis was conducted on the collected data. The data analysis demonstrated that higher levels of employee satisfaction across key areas, such as compensation, work environment, growth opportunities, and recognition, directly translated to tangible improvements in objective productivity metrics. These included increased output quantities, improved task completion rates, and enhanced efficiency ratios. Through robust statistical techniques, the researchers were able to establish a clear causal relationship, whereby enhancements in job satisfaction led to measurable gains in employee productivity. In conclusion, the study recommends that MT Nigeria should review its compensation and rewards structure to ensure employees are competitively remunerated based on their skills, experience, and contributions, as this would help drive improvements in overall employee performance.
