EXTRACTION AND PHYTOCHEMICAL SCREENING OF THE AQUEOUS EXTRACT OF THE PLANT MITRACAPUS HIRTUS LEAVES.
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Extraction and phytochemical screening of the aqueous extract of the plant mitracapus hirtus
leaves. The mitracapus leaves were collected from different location in Gadau local government
Bauchi state. The collected samples were air dried under the temperature of 250
c for one week
before being crushed to powdered, the extracts were prepared by different solvent such as ethyl
acetate, they are then taken for the phytochemicals analysis. The mitracapus hirtus contains the
presence of steroids and terpinoids by using ethyl acetate as a solvent. And contain the present of
steroids and terpenoid acid using ethyl as a solvent. The % yields results of the phytochemicals
showed that mitracapus hirtus various extract was found to be 7.65% for ethyl acetate. The
phytochemicals may be responsible for biological activity of the plant. Therefore this plant can
be a potential candidate for the formulation of new drugs of natural origin.
