NIGERIA AND THE AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK 1964-2020.
Abstract
This research work examines Nigeria and the African Development Bank (AfDB) 1964-2020. The AfDB was established out of the efforts of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and initiatives of the African Head of States and Government to fight poverty and establish sustainable economic development and cooperation among African States. The aim of this work is to ascertain to what extent the contributions of AfDB have impacted on the development of Nigeria. The source of the research was predominantly secondary. The work adopted critical and analytical research methods. The findings of the research show that the contributions from AfDB had had little impact on the political, economic and socio-cultural development of Nigeria due to inadequate funding, supervision, communal conflict, debt, mismanagement, corruption among others which aided for the poor execution of its project in Nigeria.
