Abstract

This project details the Topographic Survey of Ifisin Community Grammar School in Ifisin-Ekiti, Ido/Osi Local Government Area, Ekiti State, Nigeria. Its main goal was to create a precise topographical map that accurately depicts the terrain, natural features, and structures within the area, supporting planning and development. The survey utilized advanced GNSS technology, specifically the Network Real-Time Kinematic (NRTK) method connected to the Ekiti CORS network, ensuring high positional accuracy and efficient data collection. Coordinates of boundary points, that is northing, eastings and heights, were obtained. Each point coordinated was described accordingly and details near these points were fixed. Data processing and mapping were carried out using AutoCAD 2007 and Surfer 20, producing contour maps, 3D terrain models, and vector maps. The final topographical map accurately shows elevation changes, drainage features, and infrastructure across approximately 5.863 hectares of the school area. The study emphasizes the value of topographical surveying in civil engineering, drainage planning, and sustainable land management. Despite issues like dense vegetation and power constraints, the use of CORS-based GNSS surveying was effective for quick, accurate data collection. Overall, the project confirms that modern digital surveying methods greatly improve precision, decrease fieldwork duration, and yield dependable spatial data for future projects in the Ifisin-Ekiti community.
