ISOLATION OF BACTERIA FROM BOREHOLE AROUND REFUSE DISPOSAL SITE A CASE STUDY OF (BABBAN TSANGAYA, BINDIGARI AND NAYINAWA)
Abstract
The aim of this study was to isolate and characterize coliform bacteria from the sample collected from Babban Tsangaya, Bindigari and Nayinawa refused dumping site within Damaturu metropolitan. The bacterial colony count was conducted using pour-plate method and streaking method with all necessary required materials. Based on the results obtained from the bacterial colony count, Babban Tsangaya dumping site recorded the highest concentration of bacterial colony follow by Bindigari refused dumping site while Nayinawa refused dumping site recorded the least colony count. Isolation and characterization of coliform bacteria from drinking is one research at the frontline with regard to how water are being disinfected. However, further research is recommended to elucidate more on isolation and characterization of coliform bacteria from refused dumping sites.
