DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A 12V, 2KVA, 220V, HIGH FREQUENCY, SOLAR POWERED INVERTER.
Abstract
This project focuses on the design and construction of a solar-powered inverter capable of converting 12V DC from a solar battery to a stable 220V AC output with a power rating of 2kVA and an operating frequency of 50Hz. The inverter is designed to provide an efficient and reliable power solution for residential and small-scale commercial applications, particularly in areas with limited or unreliable grid power. The system integrates solar energy harvesting with a battery storage unit and an inverter circuit, utilizing high-frequency switching technology to achieve efficient DC-AC conversion. Key components include a pulse width modulation (PWM) controller, a step-up transformer, a microcontroller for regulation and protection, and a battery management system (BMS) to ensure optimal battery performance and longevity. The design prioritizes energy efficiency, safety, and ease of maintenance, with features such as overvoltage protection, short-circuit prevention, and thermal management. Testing and simulation results demonstrate the system's capability to deliver consistent power output with minimal loss, offering a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative for clean energy consumption.
