Abstract

This study assessed the spatial distribution and hydraulic performance of drainage infrastructure within a 2.653-hectare section of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, using Differential Global Navigation Satellite System (DGPS) surveying and longitudinal profiling techniques. A Trimble R10 GNSS receiver connected to Ekiti State CORS achieved centimeter-level positioning accuracy for drainage feature coordinates. Data processing in AutoCAD 2007 with SW_DTM extension generated network maps and elevation profiles for comprehensive drainage analysis. Results revealed a total channel length of 2.825 meters with drainage density of 1.06 km/km². The network exhibited rectilinear geometry with southeastward flow orientation. Longitudinal profiling indicated 65–70% of channels maintained adequate gradients (0.5–1.0%) and depths (0.6–1.0 m). Critical deficiencies identified include sediment accumulation, irregular slope transitions (gradient
