Abstract

This project focused on carrying out a detailed topographic survey conducted within the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, covering the area between the New Mass Communication Building and the Chief Staff Lecturers’ Complex. The goal was to obtain accurate spatial data and produce maps to aid campus planning, infrastructure design, and environmental management. The survey utilized Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GNSS equipment referenced to the Ekiti State CORS, achieving centimeter-level accuracy. Fieldwork included perimeter traversing, feature detailing, and systematic spot height collection, while data processing with AutoCAD 2007 and Surfer 10 produced detailed perimeter, contour, and topographic maps at a 1:2000 scale with a 0.25 m contour interval. The total surveyed area was 4.817 hectares, and traverse closure fell within acceptable limits, confirming data accuracy. The resulting maps clearly depict both natural and built features, demonstrating the efficiency and reliability of GNSS-based surveying and providing essential spatial information for future development and research within the institution.
