TOPOGRAPHIC SURVEY FROM NEW MASS COMMUNICATION BUILDING TO CHIEF LECTURE’S OFFICE COMPLEX, PART OF THE FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, ADO-EKITI, EKITI STATE
Abstract
This project presents a topographic survey conducted within the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, covering the area between the New Mass Communication Building and the Chief Staff Lecturers’ Complex. The aim was to generate accurate spatial data and maps for engineering, planning, and development purposes. Fieldwork included boundary delineation, perimeter leveling, spot heighting, and detail surveying of features such as buildings and roads. Data were collected using a Trimble R10 GNSS receiver and processed with Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD 2007, and Surfer 10 to produce maps including a perimeter plan, contour map, topographic plan, and 3D terrain model. The final map, plotted at a 1:2000 scale with 0.25 m contour intervals, covered a total area of 48,173.219 m² (4.817 ha). The project provides reliable baseline data for infrastructure design, drainage assessment, and future development.
