Abstract

ABSTRACT The proposed system in this project is a smart home energy monitoring and management system that implements adaptive automation. The goal of adaptive automation is to optimize energy consumption behaviour at the household level, thereby enhancing energy management. Adaptive automation includes the use of algorithms that assist in realizing optimal energy use decisions at the household level, based on information that is continuously changing over time. With adaptive automation, the system can dynamically analyse the present energy requirements as well as the user requirements for energy and take the necessary action, thereby optimizing energy management. This type of automation will not only help the user reduce energy consumption costs, but it will also ensure grid reliability. Such state of the grid is crucial for the improvement of energy management, particularly in demand response compatible designs. The proposed system design employs configurations that will integrate seamlessly with the smart grid. A centrally-adaptive automated system for energy control is proposed to achieve energy savings in the smart home environment. Through advanced smart control, energy efficiency shall be achieved by cutting down on energy wastes and maximally using the renewable energy source harnessed within the home. Adaptive algorithms will allow energy control systems to frequently monitor and adjust for any changes in energy demand and accordingly change energy distribution in the home to fit the demand pattern. This shall notably cut down on energy costs for households whilst contributing to the global push for sustainable energy infrastructure. The project proposes a smart home energy system that sets standards not only in economization but also in the environmental aspirations of reduced energy footprints. There are a number of objectives that the project defined, and these are significantly important in streamlining the essential requirements for attaining smart home energy management activities. One of the objectives is to further promote the efficient use of energy based on adaptive automation techniques that would continuously learn to adapt how much energy in the form of electricity is used based on current requirements and user preferences. Energy costs to homeowners are to be diminished in a significant manner based on maximizing the potential use of energy resources at hand and ensuring that energy is not wasted unnecessarily. The continuous development and active integration of adaptive automation’s improved features are crucial in making sure that the demand for energy remains dynamic and the user’s comfort and convenience level is accounted for, at the same time. These objectives are imperative in the overall establishment of the ideal requirements to economize on energy and improve smart home technology. The testing process for the smart home energy monitoring and management system included evaluating its performance in a controlled environment with various simulated energy consumption scenarios. The main goal was to validate the system's ability to adjust dynamically to energy demands and integrate with existing smart home technologies. Quantitative metrics like energy efficiency and cost reduction were recorded to measure success. Through iterative testing and refinement, the system consistently optimized energy use, establishing a foundation for future smart home energy management developments.
