Abstract

This project focuses on a detailed route survey carried out from the New SUB Junction to Igirigiri New L.G.A Junction, within the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. The survey covered a total distance of approximately 4.85 kilometers and was aimed at providing accurate spatial and elevation data necessary for road design, rehabilitation, and future infrastructural development within the institution. The project involved several key stages including reconnaissance, data acquisition, processing, and analysis. Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) technology was employed to collect field data through traversing, leveling, cross-sectioning, and detailing. The acquired data were processed using Microsoft Excel 2010 and AutoCAD 2007 to produce essential outputs such as the route alignment, longitudinal profile, cross-sections, and detailed feature maps. The findings revealed the existing terrain characteristics and topographical variations along the route, providing valuable information for engineering design and decision-making. The study demonstrates the importance of modern surveying instruments and software in achieving accurate and reliable results. In conclusion, the project successfully achieved its objectives by generating detailed geospatial data that will serve as a vital reference for road improvement and infrastructural planning within the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti.
