Abstract

Attendance management system using Facial recognition technology is one of the best ways to keep track of student’s attendance with efficiency and more accuracy. The main aim of thisl is to develop a student lecture Attendance management system using Facial recognition. The current attendance management system used in Federal university Lafia, Nasarawa State was analysed in order to identify the system requirements, to gather requirements for Designing the system using Facial recognition and then test, Validate and Validate the design system, the System is developed using php and python programming language.facial recognition technology has emerged as a transformative approach in attendance management, revolutionizing how institutions like the Federal University, Lafia track and verify student attendance. The Fulafia student lecture Facial Recognition Management System, a web-based application, enables accurate and efficient attendance tracking, addressing challenges such as low accuracy in low-light conditions and scalability issues across a campus. The system utilizes a user-friendly web interface for real-time monitoring via a centralized dashboard, using a database of unique facial images for verification. It provides instant attendance reports, downloadable Excel files, and visualizations, supportin. Integrated with FULafia’s existing network infrastructure, it would achieve 96.2% accuracy and robust performance across diverse lighting conditions and facial occlusions (e.g., masks, glasses). By emphasizing affordability, ease of deployment on standard hardware (e.g., with 8GB RAM), and accessibility, this system offers a scalable solution for educational institutions seeking efficient attendance management without the overhead of complex infrastructure.
