DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR FINDING THE SHORTEST PATH TO A DESTINATION
Abstract
Efficient navigation and route planning are critical in modern transportation and logistics, yet traditional methods often suffer from inefficiencies such as manual computation, slow performance on large networks, and suboptimal path selection. This project presents the design and implementation of a web-based Decision Support System (DSS) for finding the shortest path, incorporating a hybrid algorithm combining Dijkstra's algorithm and the A* search heuristic. The system was evaluated through functional, usability, and performance testing, demonstrating reliability and the ability to handle multiple operations concurrently. Results showed the hybrid approach consistently produces optimal shortest paths while reducing computational time compared to standalone algorithms.
