Abstract

Communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems are all at serious danger from flooding, thus efficient risk assessment and management techniques are required. Using Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA), this paper offers a thorough method for mapping floods that include important variables like elevation, slope, land use/land cover, and distance from rivers. By using MCDA, we create a methodical framework for assessing flood risk in Ado Ekiti. The process involves using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to collect data, applying the Weighted Sum Model (WSM) to create flood risk scores, and including stakeholders in the weighting of criteria. Our research identifies regions with different levels of flooding risk, offering important information for disaster relief and urban development. The TWI, slope, Distance From River, DEM, LUFC and Weighted overlay maps were able to be generated and determine the areas that are susceptible to flooding within Ado-Ekiti.
